The previous server is a machine named saidar. This machine was used for primary production until February 2010, when upgrades were purchased. The extra space on the primary drive is used for things that do not require mirroring, like backups of critical data from the primary server. That extra space used to hold a mirror of the binary-i386 portion of the Debian archive.

  • Pentium 4 1.7Ghz
  • 1.5GB DDR333 RAM
  • 200GB IDE drive
  • 80GB IDE drive (mirrored to other drive)

The prior server was named hedwig, and was truly a dinosaur. The BIOS was unable to recognize a hard drive larger thatn 32GB, so it used the SCSI drive to bootstrap Linux. Once Linux took over, the 32GB limit was gone, and it functioned perfectly.

  • Pentium II 400Mhz
  • 512MB PC100 SDRAM
  • 4GB SCSI boot drive
  • two 40GB IDE drives, mirrored
